Song Description
Composer’s Notes

The poetic verses of Faire Is The Heaven are actually part of the poem called A Hymn Of Heavenly Beauty, written by English poet Edmund Spenser who lived in England during the 16th century. As a poet, he was most widely known for his poem The Faerie Queene (The Fairy Queen in modern English terms.) which was an epic poem filled with elements of fantasy that celebrated the Tudor Dynasty and Queen Elizabeth I.

In the year 1925, British composer William Henry Harris set these verses as an anthem, for unaccompanied double choir and the choral work later became a hit among the British choristers and beyond. It was also in the year 2018 when the composer first heard its verses in a concert performed by The Choir of St John’s College, Cambridge in Singapore and thus was inspired to compose Faire Is The Heaven.
