Jonathan Mark Macpherson

Jonathan Mark Macpherson began his music education at the age of 7 when he learned to played the cornet in his primary school brass band. He completed his ABRSM Grade 8 with Distinction in 2013 with the help of Lynette Teo, who gave him the confidence to apply for the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Diploma in voice. Currently a trainee in the Singapore Lyric Opera’s Leow Siak Fah Young Artist Training Program and having studied under Soprano Dr Jessica Chen and Tenor David Rendall, Jonathan is a lyric tenor who is described as an "intelligent and expressive singer".
As a composer, Jonathan loves to write for choir and windband, having achieved an honourable mention in the Singapore Wind Symphony’s Young Composer’s Challenge 2017. He was taught by prominent composers such as Dr Zechariah Goh and Americ Goh. His music portrays his Catholic upbringing, Eurasian heritage, subtle sense of humour and his passion for Scottish and Irish culture.
