Joy Tavas Nilo built a choral music career that spans over four decades through his various capacities as composer, conductor, adjudicator, music educator, collaborating pianist and singer.
He is currently the President of Kompositor (Group of Filipino Choral Composers), former Vice President (Membership) of the Philippine Choral Directors Association (PCDA), founding member of The Asian Composers Forum (ACF) and member of Filipino Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (FilSCAP). He is Music Consultant to various Government and Company Choirs in the Philippines.
A sought-after composer-arranger for choral music, he has also composed for films and soap operas as well as musically directed several plays and concerts. His works have been published by various companies in the US, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines. He regularly travels to various communities in the Philippines, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore to give lectures in choral singing, conducting and composition.
