Benedict Goh
Singapore
Benedict is a versatile conductor and arranger who has worked with choirs of all ages and types since 2003. He holds a Fellowship diploma in conducting with the London College of Music, an LTCL performance diploma in piano and a distinction in Grade 8 Singing. With his well-roundedness in music and training he received in linguistics and literature at the National University of Singapore, Benedict marries music and textual analysis with phonetic understanding, creating a whole new dimension of meaning for his students. This linguistic edge gives additional value to Benedict’s unique music teaching.
Benedict has garnered numerous Gold and Distinction awards over the last 15 years in the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Central Judging of Choirs. Most recently, he led Chung Cheng High School (Yishun) choir and Nan Chiau High School choir to achieve the certificate of distinction at last year’s SYF. Under his baton, the Raffles Girls’ Primary School (RGPS) choir garnered a Gold award and category champion in Jubilate VI Festival of Choirs 2012. He has also brought the RGPS Choir to Asia Cantate Hong Kong in 2014 and garnered a Gold Diploma as well as Children’s Choir category champion which qualified them as one of the grand finalists of the festival.
Benedict enjoys working with young people and hopes to inspire them with his passion and make a difference to their lives through the education of good music-making. He also believes that learning is an endeavour of a lifetime. Not only does he wish to share his passion for music, Benedict would also like to inculcate the spirit of lifelong learning in his students.
