Ian “Gab” is a conductor, composer, arranger, chorister and music educator. Discovering his interest in music at the age of three, Ian was exposed to choral singing and other music ensembles in the Philippines and graduated in Centro Escolar University Conservatory of Music with a degree in Bachelor of Music Education major in Choral Conducting.
In 2017, he joined his first international choral composition competition held in Busan, South Korea and bagged the top prize among the 36 participating countries. In the same year, he became a member of the Kodály Society of the Philippines, and invited as a guest conductor by many choral groups.
At present, his arrangements and compositions are being performed in concerts and prestigious choral competitions by various choral groups in the Philippines. He is working as a professor at Centro Escolar University Conservatory of Music, teaching; Ear Training, Large Ensemble Class, Music Listening and Music Education. He is also taking his Master’s Degree in Music Education at the same University.
As an advocate of propagating one’s heritage and culture, many of Ian’s compositions and arrangements on choral music draws its inspiration from ethnic and folk music. He also writes sacred, pop songs and other novelty music.
