Seow Mao Yu

Seow Mao Yu is currently an undergraduate in National University of Singapore (NUS), pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a major in Quantitative Finance.

Mao Yu has been active in the choral scene for over a decade. He is currently a chorister in The NUSChoir and The Vocal Consort, both of which under the artistic direction of Professor Nelson Kwei. He previously served as the student conductor of Edward Becheras Choir (Catholic High School) and Victoria Junior College Choir, and is currently serving as the student conductor of The NUSChoir.

Mao Yu’s passion for music writing began when he was a student of the Music Elective Programme (MEP) in Catholic High School. Since 2016, he has been writing choral compositions and arrangements. He was one of the young choral composers for Singapore Choral Festival: Our New Songs in 2022, which saw the world premiere of 10 local choral works.
