Joed Balsamo is one of his generation's most in-demand composer, musical director, arranger and orchestrator, arts administrator, and pianist for theatre (musical and opera), dance (ballet), concert music (classical and pop), and various arts and music organizations in the Philippines. His artistic and creative versatility have led his works to be staged and performed by the Manila Symphony Orchestra, ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra, Philippine Madrigal Singers, Hail Mary the Queen Children's Choir, London Piano Trio, Tanghalang Pilipino, Gantimpala Theater Foundation, Tag-ani Performing Arts Society, and Ballet Philippines, among others.
Recently, he received accolades for his ballet Crisostomo Ibarra at the 2021 Classic Pure Vienna Composition Competition and Pinangarap ang minsan lang at the 2021 Timpalak Kundiman as well as finalist at the 1st Mit Out Sound International Silent Film Festival for scoring the short film I need more than tofu and other vegetables that was held in Manila last November 2021.
His Angele Dei, An Apocalyptic Alleluia, and Gloria, laus, et honor are some of his choral works that continue to be sung in concerts and competitions by local and international choristers. Just last May 2022, his chamber opera Corazon Negro was featured in The Imuthis Project as part of the creative thesis of director Paul Alexander Morales.
He has been elected anew into the National Committee on Music at the National Commission for Culture and Arts where he will head the Composition and Theory sector. Currently, he teaches composition and piano at the Centro Escolar University Conservatory of Music and he is also a member of Asian Composers League - Philippines, FILSCAP, Philippine Choral Directors Association, Asian Choral Association, and Piano Teachers Guild of the Philippines Foundation, Inc..
