Iba Ngo Lawiswis [A Different Lawiswis] (SATB)

$5.00

“Iba Nga Lawiswis” literally means a different lawiswis. This composition attempts to present a modified, yet engaging perspective of the original folk song entitled, Lawiswis Kawayan.  Inspired by the clapping of long, rigid and mature bamboo poles as they are used in a Philippine folk dance like the tinikling (a lowland rural dance depicting the movements of domesticated ducks) or the singkil (a Maranao royalty dance of Mindanao), this choral composition makes use of an ostinato of the term lawiswis kawayan in a driving and rhythmic four-fourths time signature to allow listeners to relish the rhythm, harmony and mood of the music.
