A folk song originating from Guangzhou, China, this is a lullaby about a girl who is married off to a man who lives in the backstreets of their village As a child, Lee's mother used to sing this lullaby to her as it was sung to her by her own mother, her late maternal grandmother, who emigrated from China to Malaya as it was then known during the Second World War. The text used in this arrangement is therefore in remembrance of Lee's grandmother. This piece will have singers try to recreate the soundscape of a busy market scene! Back to YCA Choral Series.
